Cory Barlog, game director of God of War, recently told PlayStation Access that he wanted to tell the story of Kratos's encounter with his wife, Lawfield. In Ares 4, players won't see Lawfield all the way through the game, Barlog said, because Lawfield doesn't have much background at the start of the game.
Barlog explains:\" If you don't know the story of Kratos after meeting Lawfield, then the encounter will seem weightless. If the player is to meet Lauffey, the player must first understand the story we have told before, which will make the player realize the importance of Lauffey. Lawfield's time with Kratos largely didn't revolve around fighting. They were soldiers, but they were at an age when they did not want to fight again, for they knew their reasons for fighting. Meet in this situation and both want to live a quiet life, which fundamentally changes Lawfield and Kratos.'
At the end of the interview, Barlog said he didn't know how or when to tell it, but he really wanted to tell the story of Lawfield and Kratos. Perhaps in the future, we can expect god of war 4 to launch a dlc dedicated to the story of god of war 4 other than combat.
